NOISE!

Especially after the calm and quiet of living in rural South Carolina, our apartment in the city is LOUD. Francois and I swear that the lady who lives above us does nothing more that move furniture while wearing high-heeled boots all day and night (on a ceramic tile floor) and the past couple nights we've had some choice words to say about the moped driver who sits right outside our bedroom window revving his engine at say, 4 in the morning. In both buildings where we've lived, residents separate their glass and paper to put in different bins from general trash, and it doesn't help that here, the glass bin is also right outside our bedroom window. Church bells ring all the time, and there's some kind of park or school playground behind the back terrace.

When we first arrived, Simeon was pretty jumpy, asking "What's that?" at every noise, both from neighbors and from traffic. I noticed he hasn't said anything in quite awhile and asked him this morning if he heard loud noises last night when he was trying to sleep. His answer was "Yes.... Just, cars, trucks, motorcycles, and buses. And Mama and Papa." Interestingly enough, when I probed him about the last part, he claims he heard us singing!
